Why meditate?
What is the result you hope for from your meditation practice?
What is the best technique for you?
Talking together about meditation practice means you can begin to answer these questions. You may have an existing or new meditation practice but either way a conversation can be supportive and useful. Since no two people are exactly alike, no two paths to awakening will be exactly the same. In keeping with my goal to empower you in your own knowing, I will offer instruction that is tailored to you.
Drawing primarily from the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and 35 years of personal meditation practice, I utilize simple instruction for profound development in a variety of meditation practices. Practices may include shamatha or shine practice, taking and sending practice, six realms practice, five elemental chain reaction practice, dakini practice, four immeasurables practice and direct awareness or insight practice. As your guide, my commitment is to meet you where you are in your path with meditation and to support you in getting where you would like to go.
There are countless books on how to meditate, but here are two specific resources for meditation practice that I use as references and can easily recommend to you:
Wake Up To Your Life by Ken McLeod – unfettermind.org
Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior by Trungpa Rinpoche
A Change by Choice Call is the first step to diving in more deeply. In a Change by Choice Call we will explore your interest in meditation practice, talk about different styles and approaches and potentially do some meditation practice together.
About working with Josephine:
I have been on an accelerated path to awakening under Josephine’s guidance for over a year now. (I had been on that path for many years, but the pace was sluggish.) Josephine’s mysterious combination of direct instruction (from her seemingly bottomless wisdom from various traditions) and her encouragement for me to stay open to my own wisdom is exquisite. Anyone wanting and willing to experience a richer, deeper, more authentic life should meet Josephine Spilka.Peggy, Weaverville, NC
